Shalom Dear Brothers and Sisters Gideon and the Valiant Three Hundred Now as I mentioned yesterday, Yahweh does not share His Glory with anyone! So it was in Chapter 7 of Judges that Gideon, fully confident, was ready to go to war. Just then the Lord steps in and says to Gideon, the men you have are too many. Now in the natural I would be thinking wait a minute the more we have on our side the stronger we are, right? But the Lord makes it very clear to Gideon that if they go up against their enemies with that many men they will feel it is because of their own strength they have won the battle. So he releases anyone who is afraid or fearful. 22,000 men left, leaving only a thousand. Now it was good that anyone who was afraid or fearful left because fear is a paralyzer! It stops us dead in our tracks, applied properly to our lives it can be a good thing. We need to have a Holy fear of Yahweh not the kind of fear that would keep us away from Him but the kind that would cause us to run straight into His arms and keep His ways so that we may be found worthy and live righteously because of His great sacrifice for the atonement of our sins that was purchased by Yeshua. We need to learn to fear God and not man, my paraphrase of (Matthew 10:28). When we fear man we are not putting our trust in God who is able to deliver us from all the enemies schemes. Now back to Gideon, the Lord said to him there are still too many men, so they go down to the river and the men are divided as to how they drink, out of all of this, the Lord chooses 300 men. Notice on these issues Gideon is no longer putting fleeces before the Lord or questions. He doesn't have to, he is fully confident that the Lord is going to deliver Israel. Gideon was very careful not to make a move until the Lord told him exactly what to do and when he did, he acted quickly and obediently. The 300 men with Gideon didn't question his leadership they just followed him in the Lord, delivered from hands of their enemies. Once again Yahweh had proved to the nations around the Israelites that He and He alone was the one true God and that He loved His people and when our hearts are totally turned to Him there is nothing our God will not do for us! He will lead us in all our ways and teach us strategies of warfare when we need them. All we need is to be is available to Him, making sure that we give Him all the glory and honor for everything He does in our lives no matter how big or small.
