Shalom Dear Brothers and Sisters There Will Be Times There will be times as we walk with our God and Messiah when we are called to pray for the sick and to cast out demons. But remember also the story in Mark chapter 9 where Yeshua cast out a demon from a boy. This story is one we can learn a great deal from. First off Yeshua did not address the demon to start with rather He spoke with the father of the boy. He got the details of what was going on. This boy had suffered since he was a young child then He had to address the fathers lack of faith. Establishing the fact that Yeshua had this authority because He was filled with the Holy Spirit, was united with the Father and was indeed the Messiah. When the father asked for his faith to be increased Yeshua saw his heart and helped him. He also had explained that he had brought the boy to the disciples and they were unable to cast out this demon. Later Yeshua explained to His disciples why this was. It was because sometimes there needs to be prayer and fasting involved before we just step into a situation. Yeshua did not need to know all the facts, I'm pretty sure he was already aware of what was going on. He was teaching us! Our faith must be complete and unwavering. Sometimes we need to step back and get the information, the history of what has been going on in this person's life. Then we need to take the time to pray and fast and seek the Lord strengthening our spiritual muscles. He has promised to guide us by the power of the Holy Spirit and it is by that power and authority that He has given us that we can then go into the situation and set that person free from the chains that bind them. We also need to make sure we are well covered and in right standing with God ourselves or we too can become collateral damage. In other words if we do not have all the facts and we have not sought the Lord's guidance in these particular matters there can be dire consequences for all parties involved and that includes the one being delivered. First they need to want to be delivered, in this case he did want deliverance for his son because his son could not speak for himself so the fathers spoke for him. It was after all this was done that Yeshua commanded the demon to come out and it obeyed. Remember also Yeshua Himself often went away usually at night or early in the morning hours fasting and praying and seeking the Father. He always was saying where ever He went or when He was questioned, that He never did anything except the Father showed him to do! What an amazing teacher we have if only we sit at His feet and allow Him to teach us! B'Shem Yeshua Hamashiach, Amen In His Love, Theresa
