The Transfiguration

There has always been much speculation about Moses and Elijah at the Transfiguration of Yeshua in Matthew 17.  Whether or not these will be the two witnesses that come in the middle of the great tribulation.  Personally I don't think so I think it will be Enoch and Elijah because that is pretty clear that they will have not tasted death.  But I was pondering why it was Moses.

Moses had a deep relationship with God.  The word of God says that He spoke with Moses face to face as a man speaks to his friend, Exodus 33:11.  I think Moses came to encourage Yeshua because he knew Him from days past.  I believe the "Angel of the Lord" was the pre-incarnate Yeshua and I think Moses knew it.  Although Moses was not allowed to enter into the promised land, the Lord took him out to the high mountain and showed him all the land that the Lord God had promised to the descendents of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.  Although he did not enter into it he had seen it with his very eyes, every border. God spent time showing him where each would settle from Dan, Ephraim and Manasseh all the mountains and the palm trees etc..  He had spent much time interceding for these people so God was faithful to show him what he was going to do by giving to them all the land that was promised they would cover and conquer.  That all that Moses had done up until then was not in vain.  I think just maybe Moses encouraged Yeshua up on that mountain and showed him all the people he would redeem.

God had used Moses to redeem the people out of Egypt and now Yeshua would redeem many people from many nations as well.  Both Moses and Elijah handed their mantles to their disciples strengthening and encouraging them trusting they would do the work they were called to as their time was finished.

Yeshua's time was coming to an end.  Even though he was fully God He was also fully man.  He was about to hand over all the authority that had been given to Him to His disciples trusting they would do the job he had spent 3 1/2 years training them to do.  He had spent all the time teaching us how to love and apply His Torah properly to our lives.  Now he was about to make the most difficult task of all and he would go in it alone.  Both Moses and Elijah experienced loneliness as well at times.  Who better to come and encourage Yeshua and most of all once again have His Father reaffirm Him audibly so that His disciples heard it.

If we can learn anything from this I think it is the importance of encouraging one another!  What a wonderful thing to do and to receive.  I know many times myself I have been encouraged by others and it helps me go on to fight the good fight.  So let's put that into practice, love one another and encourage one another!
