Shalom Dear Brothers and Sisters Psalm 51 Many times I use this Psalm as a personal prayer. As I was reading over at this last time I noticed once again something new. David says my sin is ever before my face. David wrote this Psalm after Nathan the prophet came and confronted him concerning Bathsheba. Though he loved her passionately every time he seen her she would have been a reminder of his fall from grace. Instead of running from God as many people have done and are even recorded in the Word of God, David ran straight to God. He had a personal relationship with Him that is why Adonai says in His Word, David was a man after God's own heart (1 Samuel 13:14). He confessed to send before the Lord and even publicly because he called for the musicians. Can you imagine a king of a country who had committed adultery murdered a man yet had the courage to call for musicians to play as he cried out to God for forgiveness as he repented and accepted whatever punishment was applicable! As long as he was restored to his God not only that but that God would create a new heart in him a strong and steadfast heart! This last time I was convicted as I read it that sometimes my praying that Psalm over a particular situation in my life was not done with the same passion as David. How good the Father is to correct us in this manner as painful as it was to hear that. But how grateful I was at the same time I felt much more like a true child. Sometimes the chastisement does sting and pierce our hearts as it should if we truly are His child! After that there is great joy because we are restored and we know what we can feel it I know I can! I love that big hug I always get after a chastening from my Heavenly Abba. I find myself falling more and more in love with Him every time! As Solomon said in Proverbs 3:11, "my son do not despise the chastening of the Lord". It's one thing to just say I'm sorry Lord please forgive me when we make a mistake or do something wrong. But always serve a very Holy God He is looking for children with truly repentant hearts, circumcised hearts and obedient hearts. So the next time you feel convicted about something by the Holy Spirit don't do as I used to and just say oh yeah sorry Lord. Going to Psalm 51 go into your private place where no one else can see spend time with your Abba and give thanks that He loves you enough to discipline you Proverbs 3:12.
