Chasing Crows

There is so much symbolism and teaching and things we can learn when we sit and just ponder portions of God's Word.  One thing I've noticed Elohim understands that we learn best through our senses I think anyways.  That is why many times He gives us visual and practical examples of how to live.  That is why in Psalm 119 is known as the Torah love chapter over and over each writer expresses such great gifts they receive when they meditate on the Word of God/Torah.

As I sat pondering the portion of Scripture the covenant between God and Abram in Chapter 15:11 I wondered what was the meaning behind the crows.  God had told Abram to cut the animals in half separate them and lay them side by side except for the turtledoves.  Abram did so and God waited till evening to come.  Because of this the crows smelling the dead carcasses came trying to attack and to eat the sacrifices.  As I thought about it, is this not what the enemy does or tries to do with us sometimes.  I was reminded of the parable that Yeshua spoke about in Mark 4:15, "some people are like the seeds sown along the path, where the word is sown.  As soon as they hear it Satan comes along and takes away the word that was sown in them".

It is our job to see to it that we do as Abram did when we see someone who receives the Word of God to stand and help them so that Satan cannot come and steal what has been sown in them.  There are many ways of doing this just as Abram watch diligently and chased away the crows we need to gently guide these people through the Word of God.  Being examples and being available and constantly standing in prayer.  More importantly our lives need to exemplify Whose we are by bearing good fruit as Paul instructs us in Colossians 1: 10-14.  We need to watch out for our own lives that that has been planted in us takes root!  We need to be watchful always for our adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion seeking whom he may devour 1 Peter 5:8.  He will do everything in his power to steal kill and destroy John 10:10.

We need to constantly be on guard I think this is the message of Genesis 15:11.  After Abram had spent time chasing away the crows God showed up in a mighty way!  We all want God to show up in mighty ways in our lives sometimes it may mean wrestling down the enemy and sometimes it's just our flesh.  Either way anything that raises its head against the Mighty Holy One of Israel, Elohim, is doomed for destruction.  For no doubt our God is a consuming fire!  He has equipped us with the Holy Spirit with His Word and the sacrificial blood of the pure spotless lamb Yeshua HaMashiach!  What more do we need?

We have no excuses we need determination just as Abram prepared the sacrifice out of obedience while waiting on God to show up in the mighty way he spent his time guarding the sacrifice and chasing crows so that nothing could attack or defile what he had prepared for the living God.  Our sacrifices need to be that of Thanksgiving and worship in spirit and in truth, undefiled.  Our sacrifices are nothing compared to that of our Saviors!  Let us be willing to lay down our lives surrender them and let them be living sacrifices!
