Shalom Dear Brothers and Sisters Commander in Chief Every nation on earth and every kingdom has a leader. That leader may have different titles be it Presidents, Prime Minister's, or some form of Monarchy. Whatever their title the other title they carry is Commander in Chief. As I continued reading in Joshua 5:13-15 just stood out to me. Remember I am no biblical scholar but from what I understand it seems to me this would have been the pre-incarnate Yeshua! Joshua was a man of God he had spoken with God and the Lord had used him already to part the Jordan River. Now along comes this man with a sword, not an angel, but a physical man. Joshua asks him are you for us or against us? He replies "as commander of the armies of heaven I am now here"! Joshua bows to the ground before this man. Now remember earlier the Lord God told Joshua to keep the Law of Moses in his mouth and meditate on it day and night. Joshua would never have bowed down to any other man this would have gone against the first and second commandments! Just as in the case of Moses, when HaShem appeared in the burning bush He told Moses to take off his sandals for he was standing on holy ground. Joshua I believe had come face-to-face with the King of Kings otherwise known as Yeshua HaMashiach. Yeshua has always existed John's Gospel begins by telling us so. I think Yeshua was very active with the Father since the beginning of time for us. He didn't just come into being when He was born of a virgin. I think He has existed and is from everlasting to everlasting just as the word of God says, in Nehemiah. There is so many mysteries we do not understand but one day we will. In order for Yeshua to be a King He must have the kingdom and we know that He does. He is the King and His Kingdom is without end, Daniel 2:44. His is the kingdom of light and truth and nothing unclean shall enter in. We know this from all the times Yeshua would come across someone with an unclean spirit and they would cry out that he was the King of the Jews and the Messiah. I was just awestruck as here I seen my wonderful Savior and King active in the role of what we call the Old Testament or the Tanakh. It only makes sense His Name means Salvation and that's what He does. He helps save His people from their enemies! As Paul wrote our enemies are not flesh and blood but principalities and powers in high places, Ephesians 6:12. Yeshua wasn't sitting up in heaven from everlasting to everlasting waiting until the day He would come to earth as a baby, grow in stature and wisdom, spend approximately 3 years making disciples and teaching us the proper way to discern the Torah, and finally pour out His blood as a sacrificial lamb, only two raised from the dead so that all mankind can enter in to His Kingdom. Clearly He was active all throughout the Tanakh at different times. He is our salvation! He came to set the record straight on how we were to apply His Word in our lives.
