Shalom Dear Brothers and Sisters Not Eloquent In Exodus Chapter 4 God is telling Moses to return to Egypt to deliver His people. He goes on to show him signs and wonders as Moses questions God. When he sees the rod turn into a serpent it frightens him. One reason is I think this was a flashback to when he was in Pharaoh's house and he watched the magicians. So when God told him that he would perform these signs and wonders I think he misunderstood what was happening at first. God had to explain that He would do it through him. For Moses declares in vs. 10 "oh Lord I am not eloquent, neither before You nor since You have spoken with Your Servant; but I am slow of speech and slow of tongue". I think Moses remembered how the magicians of Egypt could charm and do these tricks with great eloquence and speech and this is why he felt inferior. He was afraid of his own abilities instead of recognizing it would be God doing the signs and wonders through him. Not Moses himself doing it in his own power. He just didn't get it at the time. He had no idea just how mighty and powerful God really was. He knew what the Egyptian magicians were capable of but he had no idea they didn't stand a chance against Almighty God. Even when God explained that He Himself created man and all his parts still Moses was unable to grasp enough confidence therefore angering God. The more I thought about this a couple of things came to mind. First of all Moses thought he would be working out of his own ability. I realize how many times have I just gone ahead and done things not including God. Using my own ability to do something for Him! What God wanted was to work hand in hand. He wanted to work through Moses but Moses did not have enough confidence in God yet. Because he had not yet developed that relationship a one of intimacy, trust and faith. This was the second thing that really struck me. It is so important that we allow God to use our abilities to bring glory to Himself. He has given each and every one of us different abilities gifts and talents. He wants us to use them but more importantly it needs to be a joint effort. Just think the God of the universe put in you the giftings that He will work through to accomplish His will in your life and in the lives of those around us. This can only be done and be born out of a one-on-one intimate relationship that He is calling us to and desires. What an amazing and awesome gift this is. What an amazing and awesome God we have! Just imagine how much more we can accomplish when we first follow the words of our Master and do as He did. He did nothing except what the Father showed Him to do. He also told us that if we loved Him to keep His commandments and to love our neighbor as ourselves. Let us follow in Yeshua's footsteps and only do as our Father wants us to do. He will be faithful to show us as we spend time alone with Him reading the Word of God and being led of the Holy Spirit walking in His love and power.
