Shalom Dear Brothers and Sisters The Son of a Levi As I continue to ponder over this portion of Scripture I also realized that as the son of Levi, Moses would have been circumcised on the eighth day. This was a commandment that began with Abraham and continued on. Moses would have known he was different from the rest of the Egyptians. He had a constant reminder. So it was probably very difficult for him to go out and see his kinsman being used as slaves. He was raised in the palace and probably didn't go very far. He was also raised in the palace worshiping many other gods and being entertained by the magicians of Pharaoh as a child. It wasn't until he was an adult fully grown that he went out and saw the burden of his brethren, Exodus 2:11. He did not yet understand the ways of Almighty God because he did not know Him. It was out of a sense of injustice against his people that he took matters into his own hands and killed the Egyptian that was beating a Hebrew. The very next day what he thought was hidden was told to him and so it was he ran through the desert until he found a well where he could drink. It reminded me of the Scripture, "there is nothing that is hidden which will not be revealed, nor has anything been kept secret but that it should come to light", Mark 4:22. Of course these are the words of Yeshua who we now know is our Great High Priest! Even though Yeshua did not speak these words until much later in time that simply verifies His Deity mentioned in John chapter 1. In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God on the Word became flesh and dwelt among us! Moses's father-in-law was a midian priest. Even though Moses had been exposed to all sorts of different gods and priests once he came to know Almighty God on the side of the mountain was his destiny sealed. His heart was set upon the Lord and the Lord alone. He understood that this was the one true and living God. No other god ever spoke to their people like, "I Am" did. While the children of Israel were waiting for their deliverer God was teaching and training Moses. Once again He did not confront Moses as to why he killed the Egyptian. It wasn't an issue Moses knew in his heart what was right and wrong. I think that's one reason why when he finally had this encounter he declares in chapters 3:6 "who am I that I should go to Pharaoh". It is not Pharaoh he is afraid of it is "I Am's", choice of choosing him to do this great and marvelous thing! However the Lord reminded him and reaffirmed him that He would be with him! We can learn so much from this. Once we to were delivered from the snares of the enemy and this world a type of Egypt. Our great High Priest Yeshua HaMashiach purchased us and now we are His sons and daughters. Not just children of earthly Levite priests but children of the great high Priest! He will ask us to do things, give us opportunities to be His hands and feet. He promised He will always be with us. We just have to decide whether to be obedient or not. If we choose obedience what wonderful opportunities may lie before us. No matter how small or great they may be let us answer the call and bring honor and blessing!
B'Shem Yeshua Hamashiach, Amen In His Love, Theresa
