Shalom Dear Brothers and Sisters Total Faith
The faith and trust displayed by the mother of Moses is a wonderful example for all of us. In Exodus 2 we see Moses is born to a father and mother in the lineage of Levi. The Levites would become the priests of the Lord. That was one thing that struck me the other was the amazing trust and faith it would have taken for his mother to let him go. First we find her hiding him for three months. When she could no longer hide him she made a basket that would float and put him in the Nile River. His older sister Marian followed and watched closely amongst the reeds. The Scripture also points out that he was beautiful. So when Pharaoh's daughter finds him crying she too sees how beautiful this child is. Her heart is melted. Even though she knows this is a Hebrew child who was destined for death because of her father's orders, she totally ignores them. Marian in her wisdom, or what I rather tend to believe is led by the Holy Spirit to act quickly while Pharaoh's daughter's heart is filled with compassion for the child, offers to find a nurse to nurse the child. Pharaoh's daughter complies and agrees and sends her quickly. I don't think Pharaoh's daughter knew this was Moses's mother she was well aware there were many women who had recently given birth but their children were being slaughtered. If she did know she chose not to acknowledge it I think. Moses mother is allowed to have her child back in her arms again! I can only imagine all the things that must've ran through her mind. She also knew that she would have to return the child to be raised by a pagan woman in a very pagan household and society. Yet she had to trust God that His hand was on the child. The few short years that she had the child I'm sure she taught him his roots. How else could he have known he was a Hebrew himself. If you think prayer is not a powerful thing then you are wrong. I'm sure Moses mother prayed for him constantly. This scripture spoke volumes to me. My oldest son married a woman who is deeply involved in the Wicca religion. He too was involved for a season now he considers himself an agnostic. I'd tell you all of this because they had a child. While she was pregnant I prayed earnestly for that child. They would not tell us what names they had picked out. So I prayed that this child would one day be grounded and rooted in Almighty God, also that this child would be filled with the Spirit of God and fire and finally be full of mercy and grace. We had a little girl a granddaughter. I never told them what I prayed. Her name Willow, (a tree usually planted by waters) Ethie, (Gaelic for fire) and finally Grace! The Father answered my prayer all three of her names stand for exactly what I prayed for. Sadly, my son and daughter-in-law are divorced now. Willow is mostly in her mother's care. We have been seeing her lately a little more often while she is only 2 1/2 years old and my son is always with her we still have a relationship with her. The last time she was here she crawled upon my lap all on her own while she was there I quietly prayed over her! Then I had to let her go back. Just
like Moses mother had to trust God that He would fulfill the purpose
He had for her son's life, I see the faithfulness of God. It
gives me strength and encouragement that I too will see the fulfillment
come to pass in the life of my little Willow! Pray,
trust and put your faith in action! Then
rest in the Lord.
