LET THE FIRE FALL

The Lord’s fire, we sing and pray for the fire to fall. We ask our Father to send His fire, to cleanse with His fire. I began to think about receiving His fire and looked through the Bible to find exactly what happened each time the Lord’s fire was sent down.

Fire is mentioned 515 times in the 66 books of the Bible. Many times fire is mentioned as the Lord sent His fire to earth. Every time, there was a factor in common.

The very first time fire is mentioned is in Genesis 19:4 Then the LORD rained upon Sodom and upon Gomorrah brimstone and fire from the LORD out of heaven

The next is in Exodus 3:2 And the angel of the LORD appeared unto him in a flame of fire out of the midst of a bush: and he looked, and, behold, the bush burned with fire, and the bush was not consumed.

Exodus 9:23-24 And Moses stretched forth his rod toward heaven: and the LORD sent thunder and hail, and the fire ran along upon the ground; and the LORD rained hail upon the land of Egypt. 24So there was hail, and fire mingled with the hail, very grievous, such as there was none like it in all the land of Egypt since it became a nation.

Exodus 13:21  And the LORD went before them by day in a pillar of a cloud, to lead them the way; and by night in a pillar of fire, to give them light; to go by day and night

Fire is mentioned as fires for sacrifices to the Lord and the fire He sends down from Heaven. The Lord sends His fire to consume and cleanse. Many times, from Sodom and Gomorrah and on through the Bible, God sends His fire as a punishment to cleanse evil from the earth, and then there are times He sends His fire at our request as a sign.

I saw something very interesting.  The Lord didn’t just send His fire. In each and every case there was a ”magnet” for His fire. There was something to draw the fire. This, of course, got me thinking about all the times I have prayed for His cleansing fire. I had been praying for Him to “Let the Fire Fall”, to send down the pillar of fire as if He would just let it fall.

This is not the case. His fire, when it comes down, is an interaction between Him and us. Whether the fire is for a guide as in the desert or a cleansing fire or a punishing fire, there has been a “rod” to draw the fire. Just like a lighting rod draws the lighting bolt to itself, His fire is sent down to a “fire rod” or a magnet.

I started to really think about this, how did I expect the “Fire to Fall” if there is nothing to draw the Lord’s fire.

I Kings 18:38 Then the fire of the LORD fell, and consumed the burnt sacrifice, and the wood, and the stones, and the dust, and licked up the water that was in the trench. Elijah calls the fire down to defeat the priests of  baal. If it were not for Elijah, the fire would not have been sent.

In II Chronicles 6 Solomon prays and builds an altar then, in II Chronicles 7:1 Now when Solomon had made an end of praying, the fire came down from heaven, and consumed the burnt offering and the sacrifices; and the glory of the LORD filled the house. If it were not for Solomon, the fire would not have been sent.

We must become “magnets” for the Lord’s fire. This brings the question, how?

I look at Elijah and see a man who did everything the Lord asked of Him without hesitation. Elijah heard what the Lord said and he did it. The Lord sent His Fire.

Solomon had his faults but he built the Temple to praise and worship the Lord in the Lord’s Holy City. Solomon did as the Lord instructed him but also added repentance, praise and worship. He heard what the Lord said and did it. The Lord sent His Fire.

We have to work at being a magnet to draw the FIRE.

These are questions I have asked myself:

Have I forgiven all that I need to forgive?

Do I live by the Written Word of God or my own interpretations?

Do I pray everyday?

Do I read the Word everyday?

Do I live by the Word or by what is convenient for me?

When I pray, am I only asking for Father to do things for me or do I pray Praise and do I worship Him?

Do I do all things He tells me to do?

Am I pure enough to be a FIRE ROD to draw His fire from above.

Do you need to ask the same questions?

Thank you Father for all that you do for us. Thank you for the things we see and the things  we do not see.

In the name of Yeshua

Amen
