It is Passover.
The meaning of Passover is explained in many ways
and in various contexts. One side that is never
talked about is God’s plan in Passover.
We know that
God always has a plan. It may not be the same as
ours, but it is His.
Genesis 15:
13And He said unto Abram, Know of a
surety that your seed shall be a stranger in a
land that is not theirs, and shall serve
them; and they shall afflict them four
hundred years; 14And also that
nation, whom they shall serve, will I judge: and
afterward shall they come out with great
substance.
Even before God
gave Abraham his name, HE told Abraham that his
seed would flourish and they would be held captive
400 years in a strange land.
Israel
was slave to Pharaoh for 430 yrs just as the Lord
told Abraham. The Lord also judged
Egypt
and sent the Israelites out of
Egypt
with great wealth.
Generations
before the event, God told Abraham it was planned.
Then God
appeared to Moses and told him:
Exodus 3: 14And God said unto Moses, I
AM THAT I AM: and he said, Thus shall you say unto
the children of
Israel,
I AM has sent me unto you. 15And God
said moreover unto Moses, Thus shall you say unto
the children of
Israel,
The LORD God of your fathers, the God of Abraham,
the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, has sent
me unto you: this is
My name for ever, and this is My
memorial unto all generations.
This statement
by God is very important. This event will be a
memorial for all generations.
Our Father has told us, look at the wonders and
miracles I have performed. I AM Who I AM, I am
God. Remember through out all generations.
Exodus 4: 21And
the LORD said unto Moses, When you go to return
into Egypt, see that you do all those wonders
before Pharaoh, which I have put in your hand: but
I will harden his heart, that he shall not let the
people go.
Why would God
harden the Pharaohs heart? Why would God not
want His children released the first time the
Pharaoh was asked? The Lord wanted to show
Israel
and the world who He was. He would demonstrate to
all and for all time His power and glory.
Exodus 6: 5And I have also heard the
groaning of the children of
Israel,
whom the Egyptians keep in bondage; and I have
remembered my covenant. 6Wherefore say
unto the children of Israel, I am the LORD,
and I will bring you out from under the burdens of
the Egyptians, and I will rid you out of their
bondage, and I will redeem you with a stretched
out arm, and with great judgments: 7And
I will take you to me for a people, and I will be
to you a God: and ye shall know that I am
the LORD your God, which brings you out from
under the burdens of the Egyptians
By not allowing
Pharaoh to let the Israelites leave, God worked
His wonders and miracles for all to see. All who
witnessed this great event knew who He was.
Exodus 10: 1And the LORD said unto
Moses, Go in unto Pharaoh: for
I have hardened his heart, and the
heart of his servants, that I might show these my
signs before him:
Exodus 12: 14And this day shall be unto
you for a memorial; and ye shall keep it a
feast to the LORD throughout your generations;
ye shall keep it a feast by an ordinance for
ever. 15Seven days shall ye eat
unleavened bread; even the first day ye shall put
away leaven out of your houses: for whosoever eats
leavened bread from the first day until the
seventh day, that soul shall be cut off from
Israel.
The Lord wants
us to know, this day is to be remembered forever.
His signs and wonders and miracles were not just
for the slaves at that time but for all
generations to look at with awe and wonder. It is
so important, the
eating of leavened bread is a reason to be cut off
from
Israel.
(This does not mean by eating something with
leaven by mistake but a decision to ignore Him and
do as we please. By deciding to eat bread or drink
beer for example, we are ignoring a direct request
He has made. This means we essentially reject Him
in our heart, the same as with any sin we commit.)
2 Peter 3:
8But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one
thing, that one day is with the Lord as a
thousand years, and a thousand years as one day
We are
commanded to commemorate this day of the Passover
from generation to generation, to teach it to our
children. In the counting of God’s time, He worked
these miracles for us just a few days ago but we
still pray for Him to “give us a sign”
Just a few days
ago, He walked among us and again gave us signs
and wonders and we still say, give us a sign.
Our Lord, Our
Father planned the exile in
Egypt.
He planned for Pharaoh to refuse Moses. He did
this for us. He wanted to show us for all time, He
is our God and He will take care of us.
I
know, the next time I start to say to God, “Give
me a sign”, I will remember the wondrous things He
performed for me as I came out of
Egypt. I will remember how He freed me from
bondage and led me to the promised land of
milk and honey..
Exodus 13: 8And
you shall show your son in that day, saying,
This is done
because of that which the LORD did for me
when I came forth out of
Egypt
Father, we
thank you for the wonders and miracles you
performed for us in
Egypt
and we glorify your name through out the earth.
Amen
